Question on r7 425 tp driver?
Taylor MADE TP Fujikura RE*AX 75 Graphite Shaft
9.5 degree
my swing speed is 100mph
is there much of a difference than a r7 425? (not tp)
is it still as long?
how about r9 460?
Long is not in the club, it's up to the golfer to strike it correctly. Tempo and Sweet Spot.
Big difference; TP version comes with 12 movable weights, providing even more flexibility and options. Choose from nine swing weights and 1,230 sets of launch conditions by utilizing 98 grams of movable weight across four widely-spaced TLC ports. Tour models are designed for more shaping in mind, less forgiving although this club is pretty forgiving even the tour model. Biggest difference shaft, with your swing speed your going to have difficulties loading it properly.
The r7 425 (not TP) is still a great club, with your swing speed and the increase torque on the different shafts you could use a Stiff Flex; standard shaft for this club being TaylorMade (by Fujikura) r7 RE-AX 65 torque 3.1 vs 2.5 on TP 75g weight vs 65g on non TP. They also have the TP RE*AX shafts "TaylorMade (by Fujikura) r7 TP RE-AX 64" with 3.1 torque with a high trajectory vs a mid-high on your RE*AX 65. The difference in the TP shaft alone without considering the weight, torque, trajectory is Fujikura's proprietary ROMBAX technology, which has taken Fujikura's
TRIAX technology to the next level. I think only the tour models have this Rombax technology.
Here's the info on Rombax Technology
A golf shaft exhibits a tendency to change from a circular shape to an oval
shape as it bends and twists while subjected to the normal forces of the
forwardswing. That's why Fujikura, maker of the No. 1 shaft on the PGA Tour*,
devised ROMBAX technology, which helps the shaft to better retain and
recover its original, circular shape. That helps to make the shaft dynamics
more consistent and more stable, which promotes improved consistency
and accuracy from shot to shot.
ROMBAX technology uses two types of graphite weave, TRIAX (used in Fujikura's
legendary Speeder 757 shaft) and a second weave recently developed to
reinforce TRIAX. These weaves, which are used to make graphite sheets, are
characterized by an intricate, strength enhancing pattern. The TRIAX sheet
extends from the grip to the tip, while the second sheet covers the middle
of the shaft, covering approximately 25% of the length. Together these graphite
sheets unite to reinforce the shaft's cross-sectional integrity, allowing it to
better maintain and recover its circular shape during the swing. The complex
pattern in which the outer graphite sheet is woven is visible through a "window"
just below the grip. In the 425 TP, ROMBAX technology extends from the top of
the shaft to the bottom, which not only reinforces cross-sectional integrity
to promote increased consistency, but also bolsters tip-stiffness to promote
increased control for players capable of generating fast swing speeds
and tour-style launch conditions.
r9 460, again good club, newer....more moolah, big difference from the r7 425. Better technology over years, improved MOI, CG, 8 launch conditions vs 6, bigger head, shiny and new.
Again bottom line: Long is not in the club, it's up to the golfer to strike it correctly. Tempo and Sweet Spot. Having the proper shaft, loft can help but you gotta be accurate and smooth.
