Love Golf

Why do I love to find golf balls?

It is a rare day golfing when I don't find more balls than I lose. I'm a decent golfer and have more balls than I will ever use. Please expalin this to me.

Finding golf balls is what makes a bad round worth while. If you find enough Titleists, you could actually make money in the end. Especially when you have some extra time waiting for the foursome in front of you.

There you are sweeping the weeds back and forth just waiting to see the glowing white beacon that is a newly lost golf ball. As your wedge slips aside a tuft of weeds and you see the delicious looking ball down below, your mind now moves to one thought.......oooh I wonder what brand it is?

You pick it up, wipe the mud off of it and find........a lousy pinnacle. The hunt for the Pro V1 continues. You tee off, almost purposely pulling it down the left side because you know a bountiful harvest awaits. You find three on your way to your ball........you just slip them into your pocket and wait to look at them all at once. You hit your 6 iron just short of the green and you anxiously dig into your pockets. First one is a top flite, not bad but just another bag filler, next is a nike one black, definitely a good ball, one you might just pull out on the next tee. But finally your third and last ball.......the ProV1, your heart fills with schoolkid delight. You feel as if you were charlie who just found the last golden ticket to get into the Chocolate Factory. It must be a sign that good things are to come. You finish the hole with an up and down par and head to the 18th.

You tee up your brand new Pro V1 knowing that a 300 yard drive is in store. Take one extra practice swing, stand behind your ball to envision the flight and set up. Two deep breaths and..........Son of a B#$%# duck hook right into the damn drink. You slam your driver, give a middle finger to the golf gods and take out that piece of crap pinnacle you found earlier. Just to get everything over with, no practice swing, no envisioning ball flight, you step up to the ball expecting nothing and rip one right down the middle. A gust even comes as your ball reaches it's apex giving you and extra 15 yards.

The golf gods have struck again, you hit an enormous 3 wood to get home in what would be two, sink your putt for a hard earned PAR. Knowing that it would have been an eagle keeps you coming back for more. I love this game.
