What does caddy do in golf course?
Are they just carry the golfers' bag or the do something else?
Answer from the Philippines were caddies are usually mandatory. Many players here prefer female caddies, so I answer as if female
1. Read greens...caddy is expected to read greens each putt. This is first and most important.
2. Club selection...give input and support to club selection.
3. Estimate distance...in conjunction with club slection options, provide accurate assessment of distance...from back or front tee and where distance markers may be misplaced by even a few metres.
4. Establish an excellent relationship with the player, getting to know his game strength and weaknesses.
5. From time to time, if necessary get food, snack, coffee, hand towel, wet towel, buy golf balls...generally manange every aspect of the players round including making cordial relationship to other players.
6. Recognise good shot from you or opponent. In the event of bad shot, say nothing, no reaction.
7. Find ball, must not in any event lose track of ball fight or location.
8. Mark score.Or track score for player to mark.
9. Track betting. Hold money if necessary. Keep track of whatever bet is made.
10. Look nice. Optional...most of these caddies have minimum 10 years, or in my case 20 years experience, new girls, attractive, usually have no idea about the game...you would hire them at your own risk.
11. Collect fee and tip.
12. Go home....or as it is here, join post game celebrations...even have a few over to the house for lunch and local card game.
