Windshield Fits

What is the technical term for "jigsaw" crime evidence?
I don't mean the figurative term, I am referring to when an item found at the scene matches up with a piece on the suspect. i.e. the tip of the suspect's knife broke off in the victim's wound, or a shard of broken glass from a hit-and-run victim matches up with the windshield and fits where it was broken.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help
The item or substance collected at a crime scene is simply referred to as collected evidence. How exactly it connects to the crime, such as tool marks on cut wires that match pliers in the bad-guy's car, saliva on a glass that contains DNA matching a suspect, fingerprints on a gun that match a suspect's, handwriting exemplars from a suspect that match a signature on a forged document -- these are all usually referred to as pieces of forensic evidence.
